Gearing Up…

You know, I’m pretty sure most folks don’t announce, in a public forum, that they intend to start budgeting…AND meal planning…AND housekeeping regimes.

All at once.

Because, yanno, most folks are NORMAL. And, likely, SANE.

Neither of which anyone has ever accused me of.

The problem, as I see it, is that I can’t work on my budget, without addressing meal planning. Our grocery bill is through the roof. I’d say that it accounts for the majority of waste, as far as finances go, so in order to try to get the budget working, meal planning had to happen. And, homemaking? Call it a matter of survival.

I’m stubborn. And that may well work for me. See, when it’s a trait that works for you, it’s called, ‘perserverance’. When it’s annoying someone, and making you look like a jerk, it’s ‘mule headed stubborn’.

I don’t hear ‘perserverance’ a whole heck of a lot.

Diva, my *delightful* daughter was commenting on my announcement that a new regime was going to commence at the Non Stepford Home. Even left comments on the post.

Rotten kid.

Her comments to my face were no kinder.

“Good luck with that!” she said, not even bothering to hide her snicker and sneer. “I give it a week. Maybe two.”

Rotten, mouthy brat. Can’t imagine WHO she takes after. All that sarcastic humour. Hmph.

Little does she realize, that may well be the goad I need to see this sucker through. To keep on keeping on until it’s entrenched, this new way of life.

Unless, of course, I end up curled under my desk in the fetal position, sucking my thumb and mumbling to myself.

More than I usually do, I mean.

The good news is, I’ve found three, THREE different programs that, if they work as advertised, will actually enable me to accomplish what I’m setting out to do. Actually, that may not be a fair statement. More like, “If *I* can get them to work for me the way they do for other people.” because I’m pretty sure that, being the Non Stepford family, any system is already at a disadvantage, compared to average.

Right now, I’m wading through a learning curve. Or, more accurately, wading through a minefield of lightening sand while dodging flame spurts and the ROUS of Stress.

But, I’ll be keeping everyone updated, and doing a review of the 3 programs I’m trying at the end of the month. I’ll be updating weekly, unless something wow happens (good or bad) in which case I’ll add an extra update.

And, of course, the regular posts will continue.

So. I figure this will go one of two ways. One, by the end of June, I’m going to feel more confident about the way the house is running. Or two, Diva will be announcing that Mommy has now lost her mind, and is refusing to crawl out from under the bed.

I figure the odds are 50-50.
