Wow. 2015. What a year that was.
Some of it was mind-blowing, earth-shaking, holy-crap-what-just-happened. Both personally, and in the whole writing gig.
I mean, there was the article, “Princess or Not, How The Hell Does She Look Like That?” on Scary Mommy. That article BROKE Scary Mommy several times, landed me a call from CNN International, had me on CTV news, and was republished on the UK Mirror. Frankly, it was an out of control sled ride that I had no freaking clue how to manage.
I was on Huffington Post, xoJane, and was submitting my articles anywhere I could think of.
Then there was the Great Move Across Canada.
My first time in a book.
And that’s just off the top of my head.
It was also the year we said goodbye to Bazinga the Wonder Dog.
The bitter with the sweet.
Really, that’s what life is, isn’t it? Finding the positives, to take some of the sting out of the negatives. Or, to give you that bit of light to keep you going, that promise that things will get better, things can and will change, and nobody’s actually going to drop a safe on your head.
So. What now?
Well, I don’t have the foggiest damn clue, honestly. Like anyone else, I have goals for the year. 2016 will be the year that we buy a home of our own. Will be the year that I finish my fiction novel, land an agent, and get something happening on getting that bad boy published, while I work on the 2nd of the (at least) trilogy.
According to *my* plans, anyways.
One thing I do know…I’ll be here, still writing, sometimes funny, sometimes provoking, sometimes casting my voice into the wind.
I’ll still be juggling the Minions, the Wolf, and the one armed-ness.
I’ll still be working to get through, every day, holding fast to whatever ray of light I can find, when the darkness seems overwhelming and never ending.
I’ll remind myself of those I love, of those who love me, and keep moving forward.
I’ll laugh, cry, and scream at the Heavens.
And hopefully, you’ll come along for the ride.
Every year, I wish the same thing for everyone, and I wish it for you, Reader. “May the BEST of 2015 be the WORST of 2016.”
Welcome to 2016, folks. It’s gonna be one hell of a year.
I’d love to hear from you! Let me know what your plans are for 2016!
